full and partial rss fight it out
Robert Scoble hates partial text rss feeds, and so do I. RSS is still a rather foreign concept to many casual internet users (at least the ones I know), and partial text feeds pose enough of an annoyance for many people to just give up and say “why bother.”
We are in the middle of a big movement towards a completely customizable internet experience. People can already tailor their portals to contain popular sites they often visit, arrange their blogs or social networking site profiles to include people they know and want to keep up with, and many power users have RSS readers constantly feeding them the latest news from dozens of sites.
With busy lives putting a premium on free time, people might start to cut out partial text feeds if they have to trim the list of sites and sources they follow. For better or worse, they just take more time to keep up with. Amit Agarwal provides many more reasons that full feed is the way to go.
